There are a few fruits and veg that seem to have control over spring, but if you go past the usual recipe staples, there are actually some interesting things that don't get much notice. For example fresh almonds.
A great buy at farmer's markets right now are fresh almonds, we just eat them whole, skin and all, the skin/fruit is sour, a sort of underreippend fruit.
The almond itself is basically watery, it doesn't have much flavor at this point, and on its own is a bit boring.
